Lions Sadhuram Eye Hospital to be empanelled under

Hyderabad: The Lions Club of Hyderabad Sadhuram Eye Hospital (LCH-SEH) which has been providing free eye care services for the past three decades celebrated its 37th Annual Day here at its premises at Gaganmahal Road, Domalguda, Hyderabad today. Chief Guest Honourable Minister of Medical & Health Services, Government of Andhra Pradesh Dr. D.L. Ravindra Reddy speaking at a program organised on the occasion said that the Lions Club of Hyderabad Sadhuram Eye Hospital will be soon empanelled as speciality eye care hospital under Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the hospital and praised the Managing Committee and the Trust for the yeomen service. Moved by the eye care services for poor and needy provided by the hospital, Minister Ravindra Reddy personally gave a donation of Rs.25000/-. The Minister promised all the help for allocation of land for the hospital to setup a 100-bedded super speciality hospital for providing eye care at affordable cost for the poor and needy.

The website of the Hospital www.lionssadhurameyehospital.com was declared open by Guest of Honour Mr. Y. Sivarama Sastry, a Freedom Fighter and Senior Advocate. He also released a brochure of the hospital on the occasion. An ophthalmologist, Dr. D. Lakshmana Swamy Reddy was has been regularly supporting the hospital donated Rs. 2 lakh on the occasion. The program was attended by Lion R. Sunil Kumar, Lions International Director-Endorsee; Lion B.S. Krishna Reddy, Chairman – LCH-SEH; Smt. Ganga Bhavnani, Chairman – Kalavati Trust; Mr. Gurucharan Bhavnani, Secretary – LCH-SEH; Lion Gopal M. Mor, President – Lions Club of Hyderabad and several office bearers and Past Presidents and Secretaries of the Club.

Krishna Reddy, Chairman – LCH-SEH informed that Sadhuram is a charitable non-profit organisation committed to provide quality eye care services for poor and needy to prevent blindness in India. Mr. Gurucharan Bhavnani, Secretary of Lions Club of Hyderabad Sadhuram Eye Hospital, Charitable Trust and Post Graduate Institute of Opthalmology gave Secretary Report on the occasion.

Sadhuram Eye Hospital is currently a 80 bed hospital with two air conditioned operation theatres. These are fully equipped with best eye care equipment. It also has S.L. Mishra Memorial  Eye Bank, which it added during its 25th year. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has recognised this hospital for Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Programme. Over the 37 years the hospital has performed 2,25,000 various kinds of eye surgeries. Seventy per cent of these eye operations were done totally free of cost to the poorest of the poor of the society.  It has been conducting eye camps regularly around 150 kms radius of the hospital benefitting many poor patients. It has two fully equipped mobile operation theatre and supported by 14 Doctors and about 65 para medical staff informed Mr. Gurucharan Bhavnani. Sadhuram Eye hospital recently acquired Ocular Coherence Tomography, Sovereign Compact Phacoemulsificaiton and Reticare Posterior Vitrectomy equipment to provide better eye care, he added.
