  • Local fish worth more than Rs 100 crore sold in Assam during lockdown

    In Assam, over Rs 100 crore local fish have been sold in the state during lockdown. Commissioner-Secretary of the Fishery Department, Rakesh Kumar said that the department has also distributed spawn and fry fish for next crop during lockdown period.

    Mr. Kumar said that the department has initiated Cage Culture system to minimize the loss of fish farmers during floods. He said that it also gives good growth in a short time.

    He said that cage culture system is going on at 15 places in various districts of state. Mr. Kumar said those who are returning to Assam from outside could also explore various schemes of the Fishery department as employment option.
