  • Lok Sabha resumes discussion on Rafale aircraft deal

    Published on January 4, 2019

The Lok Sabha today resumed discussion on Rafale aircraft deal. Participating in the discussion, Dharmendra Yadav of Samajwadi Party questioned the deal alleging that it has been purchased more than the price decided during UPA rule.

He reiterated opposition’s demand for a JPC probe. He was supported by A. P. Jithender Reddy of TRS.

Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav of RJD also echoed same views. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi should answer the questions on the deal in Parliament.

He said the Supreme Court has not given clean chit to the deal as being claimed by the NDA government and only JPC can look into the defense deal.

He alleged that the government had mislead the Court that CAG report on Rafale deal has been examined by the Public Accounts Committee which is untrue. He alleged that there has been a big scam into the deal.

Anurag Thakur of BJP, without naming Congress President Rahul Gandhi, accused him of telling lies on the deal in the House. He said the Congress was involved in corrupt practices in defence deals in the past.

Mr Thakur also attacked Mr. Gandhi for questioning a woman journalist, who had interviewed Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently. The discussion is underway.
