Lovely Professional University Eyeing Up Participation at Olympic Level

Jalandhar:  Eyeing up strong participation at Olympic Level, Lovely Professional University is attracting talented Sports-Men and women students under Scholarships worth many lacs of Rupees. More than 22 Games/Sports are being considered for this. In this regard, participants in activities of International Sports Championship, National sports Championship, Inter University Sports Competition and State Sports Championship are invited. Along with full Tuition Fee waiver and even cash reward of Rs 25000/= per semester, Free lodging and boarding facilities will also be provided to the extraordinary talented students, as per their grade and scale of previous participations.

Elaborating about this, the Chancellor of the University, Mr Ashok Mittal said: “There is no dearth of talents in the youth of today. Only thing required is to accord them great chances to bring forth their potentialities and abilities to the world.” Posing determined, he added: “LPU always wanted participation of Indian Players in Olympics for better achievements.” He further informed: “Keeping this in view, we are according scholarships of great values to talented students in Sports and many other activities. The players and athlete students of national and international level should avail of these scholarships.” He continued: “Moreover, there is full-fledged Physical Education Department of the University. Groomed under its programmes, such students can go for higher performances in the International Sports arena at Olympic Level.” Anticipating bright results soon, he also wished participation of these well boosted students in the London Olympic Games, to be held in the Great Britain from 27th July, 2012 onwards.

It is illustrative that LPU holds that all types of talented students should shine academically as well as in the fields of sports, cultural activities and allied field of their liking. Monetary constraints should not stop them to access quality education. So, the University has extended Scholarship and Financial Aid Scheme. As such, there are sports Scholarships for Handball, Korfball, Judo, Air Pistol Shooting, Best Physique (Men), Softball, baseball in addition to the traditional games like football, hockey etc. These are applicable to almost all the programmes after 10th, 10+2, Graduation and Lateral Entry Programmes, as per policy of the University.
