Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University is hosting three day celebration RYLA-2010, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards being organized by Rotary Club Ludhiana, RI District 3070. 150 delegates, of 18-30 age-group, from Punjab, Himachal & J&K are participating in it. The celebration was inaugurated by the Chancellor of LPU, Mr Ashok Mittal by Lighting of the Lamp at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium of the University. On this occasion, President of the organizer club Rtn I S Grewal, Chairman RYLA Rtn K K Dhir and District Governor, R I 3070, Rtn M M Jerath prominently accompanied him. The Department of Cultural Activities of the University added highly appreciable glitter to the celebration through cultural programme presented during the special evening session. After different sessions the next day, the valedictory function will be on the last day i.e. December 19. The awards are to be accorded to those young men and women who have made themselves prominent as the most interactive, socially useful, best idea-generators, culturally advanced and such like other appreciable personalities.

Invoking the sea of youth during his inaugural speech, Chancellor Mr Mittal appreciated and highlighted the humane endeavours of Rotary Club world-wide. He said: “The way the Rotarians are developing in youth leadership skills and self confidence, while exposing them to community leaders and mentors, is really a massive step towards true coming of a golden dream for a better world to emerge. All those who are going to attend different interactive socially useful sessions, during these three days, through ‘Wits’ of immense intelligence and prudence, are certainly going to glorify themselves and their surroundings by imbibing the best of ideas and potentialities.” He further congratulated all the office bearers and members of Rotary club Ludhiana and the team of RYLA for their concerted efforts towards inculcating among young minds the great ethical values in a versatile manner.

Addressing the delegates and the galaxy of eminent guests, the Chairman of RYLA, Mr Dhir said: “Our main motto through this celebration is to impart the youth a great exposure towards self motivation and grasping of great human values under the impact of Indian trends and traditions. The youth today is being led astray towards transient westernized existence, which may not help them in long duration. Moreover, it is a part of our projects to work to support the fundamental needs of the new generations like health, human values, education and self development. As such, we are going to develop future potential members also.”During the inaugural session, the renowned educationist, Dr D R Vij also motivated the youth by illustrating well the theme of RYLA-2010 ‘Developing Socially Responsible Youth’.

While talking to the Media, a few of the participants said, “RYLA-2010 is a great venture this time. We and many other delegates are very happy in the great atmosphere and environment. We are really enjoying it! We are also learning so many new things about being a “leader of importance”. We are having interaction sessions with so many wonderful people who are just shaping us as men and women of the great experiences. We hope to return as great alumni of RYLA the very next year. We solely want to thank the host University for all the best arrangements of convenience and entertainment adding in making RYLA such a wonderful experience.”
