The major Asia-Pacific equity indices today closed with gains. Investors positioned themselves ahead of the release of a U.S. consumer inflation report for May.

China’s Shanghai Composite index added half a per cent. South Korea’s KOSPI, Japan’s Nikkei-225 and Singapore’s Straits Times gained 0.3 per cent each. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slipped around 0.1 per cent.

European shares were trading mixed in intra day trade. London’s FTSC-100 rose 0.3 per cent while Germany’s DAX fell 0.2 per cent. France’s CAC was trading flat.
