The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee took oath as a legislator in the State Assembly on day. The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Biman administered the oath to her in the presence of several Ministers of her Cabinet and Opposition members. Ms. Banerjee recently won a by- election from Bhawanipur Assembly Constituency in Kolkata after resigning as Member of Parliament from Kolkata South Parliamentary seat.

Besides Ms. Banerjee, Mr. A.T.M Abdullah of ruling Trinamool Congress, also took oath as an MLA.
