  • Mangaldai Police in Assam recovered over rupees seven lakh in the robbery case of Flip card online shopping centre

    Mangaldai: Mangaldai Police on Tuesday has arrested one more person in connection with the robbery in the distribution centre of the Flipcard online shopping located here at ward no 8. The police also managed to recover a cash amount of Rs 2,68,500 from the possession of the arrested person who is the village head of Kuhiyarkuchi village under Khoirabari police station in bordering Udalguri district. According to Inspector Niranjan Baruah, officer in charge of Mangaldai Sadar Police Station, the accused village head Dan Chandra Ramchiary had concealed the cash in a household drain. With this recovery amount the total recovery amount has increased to Rs 7,18,500. Prior to this, the police on Thursday night has  arrested two employees of the establishment identified as Sanjib Bhuya of Santipara and Jayanta Ghatowal of No1 Bezpara village under the police station and recovered a total stolen amount of Rs 4.50 lakh kept separately by both the accused youths. However the police is still to recover the remaining amount of Rs 14.40 lakh out of the total looted amount of around Rs 21.59 lakh. Three other accused including the master mind of the robbery Jogesh Deka, a terminated staff of unit have been absconding as stated by Inspector Baruah. The police has already registered a case (No. 836 /2019) U/S 457 /380 IPC in Mangaldai Police Station in connection with the gruesome robbery incident in the night of October 7 last during Durga Puja celebration.
