  • Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura celebrating statehood day; President, PM greets

    Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura are celebrating their statehood day today. On this day in 1972, all the three states became full-fledged states under the North Eastern Region (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.

    President Ram Nath Kovind has greeted the people of the three states on the occasion. In a tweet, Mr Kovind extended his best wishes to the states for a bright and prosperous future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted people of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura on their statehood day.

    Greeting people of Tripura, in a tweet, Mr Modi said, in less than a year, the state has made remarkable progress. He said, Tripura is realising it’s true potential and people’s aspirations are being fulfilled at a record pace. He hoped that the spirit will grow further in the coming years.

    Greeting people of Manipur, Mr Modi said, the state is blessed with immense natural beauty and hardworking citizens and he can never forget the affection he has got in the state. He hoped that the state will continue scaling new heights of development.

    The Prime Minister said, people from Meghalaya have made a notable contribution to the country. He prayed for the state’s continuous progress.
