New Delhi :Marketing Guru Philip Kotler has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being conferred the first ever Philip Kotler Presidential Award.

In a series of tweets, Mr Kotler said, Prime Minister Modi has been selected for the award for his outstanding leadership and selfless service towards India, combined with his tireless energy.

He said, Mr Modi’s efforts have resulted in extraordinary economic, social and technological advances in India. and his winning the first award raises the bar for future recipients. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had received the first-ever Philip Kotler Presidential award on Monday.

A Kotler Leadership Award leader is one, who believes in representative government and in social justice, believes that a good society will build a healthy business climate, encourages businesses to practice the triple bottom line, namely to balance profits, people, and the planet in their deliberations and sincerely and wholeheartedly works for the Common Good.
Mr Kotler said, on these criteria, Prime Minister Modi stood the highest. He said, Mr Modi has improved his country’s image and visibility on the global stage. A committee in the World Marketing Summit voted on possible leaders given the criteria.
Mr Kotler said India has a robust democracy and the opposition to the Prime Minister started criticizing the award which is regrettable. He said, since the award honors India, in as much as it honours the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, unfortunately, he was not able to make the trip to India as his physician advised that he should not travel all the way to India. Mr Kotler said, he asked his lifelong friend, distinguished Marketing Professor Jagdish Sheth, to do the honors in his place.
