    Haflong :Against the proposed division of Dima Hasao on Communal line, Various Apex Bodies, Student Organizations & NGOS, Haflong, Dima Hasao Dist. Assam organized a a massive Peace Rally at Haflong which received a huge participation from various communities of Dima Hasao on Monday.

    The rally was started from Cultural Institute Hall marched through the major parts of Haflong town up to council rotary and converged in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

    Several speakers from various communities participating the Peace Rally said the district of Dima Hasao of late regained from various crisis and development has taken a momentum, therefore most of the citizens of Dima Hasao do not want any unpleasant situation to be prevailed in the district. Peace has become the foremost need and it should be maintained in any cost and also to encourage brotherhood among each other living in Dima Hasao.

    Later, a representation against the proposed bifurcation of Dima Hasao Dist. Assam, on Communal line
    was submitted to Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma,  Minister,  finance, Education, PWD, Health and family welfare etc through the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao District, Haflong, by various Apex Bodies, Student Organizations & NGOS, Haflong, Dima Hasao District Assam.

    In the representation it was stated that the signatories of various Apex Bodies, Students Organization, NGOS of Dima Hasao Dist. Assam, on behalf of the peace loving people of this Hill District of Assam, through this memorandum register their strong protest against the Proposed demand of Indigenous Peoples Forum (IPF) for disintegration of existing Greater Dima Hasao District and to create separate Autonomous District with separate Autonomous Council which in fact was in Communal line.

    The reason for their strong objection with regards to their demand can be ascertain from the facts stated  for his kind information that may help to make a firm decision at the earliest.
