  • Masters of Latin music at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music

    Mumbai: Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music (SAM), Asia’s premier college for   contemporary music invites applications from aspiring musicians for the 7 – week Summer Intensive program starting from June 1st 2015. This will provide an opportunity to master skills in Music Performance and Production with internationally renowned masters in music.

    The faculty line up for the Summer Intensive has a balanced mix of renowned International and Indian artists. The singer – songwriter Magos Herrera (Mexico) rose to international acclaim when she was nominated in the International Grammy’s for her album “Distancia”. Magos will focus on vocal technique, improvisation on Jazz, Brazilian and Latin repertoire. She has also taught masters classes in music schools like Berklee College in Boston, Central College in Pella, Iowa, Miami Dade College, Kuala Lumpur Music Academy, Escuela Superior de Música in Mexico City. She will be joined by greats in their field such as-

    ·         Fabio Gouvea (Brazil) – Guitar

    ·         Alex Kautz (Brazil) – Drums

    ·         Ed DeGenaro (Germany) – Music Production

    ·         Felipe Brisola (Brazil) – Bass

    ·         Dr. S. Karthick (India) – Ghatam (Percussion)

    ·         Ujjayinee Roy (India)- Vocals

    Multi-Platinum certified Ed DeGenaro has worked on “both sides of the glass” for the last 30 years. Besides his experience as a well known Fusion guitarist, Masters of latin musicstaff composer at Warner Chapell and recording artist for EMI, Atlantic and Atco records, he has extensive experience in the studio as a musician and recording engineer tracking, mixing and mastering music in studios across Germany, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Netherlands, UK, Scandinavia and India. The production program will equip the students with all the tools necessary to excel in today’s demanding entertainment industry.

    The application window for the Summer 2015 batch will be open till the end of May 2015. The total fee for the 7- week course will be inclusive of food, accommodation in fully furnished serviced apartments and facilities like gym, pool, media lab and library. The campus is spread across 4 acres with an imposing 29,000 sq ft LEED gold certified green music facility equipped with state of the art equipment.     Apart from the Summer Intensive, the courses offered by SAM are diplomas in Music production and Performance as well as a 4 year international Bachelor’s program in Music Performance in association with McNally Smith College of Music, USA.
