  • Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth has reached New Delhi today on a week-long visit to India.

    He will leave for Varanasi to take part in the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas on Monday. During his visit, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and take boat ride followed by Ganga Aarti.

    External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will meet the visiting dignitary. During his stay, Mr Jugnauth will also call on President Ram Nath Kovind.

    The visiting leader will witness the Republic Day Parade in Mumbai. Maharashtra Governor will host ‘at-home’ function for Mr. Jugnauth.

    India is Mauritius’ largest trading partner and has been the largest exporter of goods and services to Mauritius since 2007. Eight Indian Public Sector Enterprises are currently functioning in Mauritius.

    Over the past forty years, India has extended several Lines of Credit to Mauritius to assist in the development of its infrastructure, human resource, skills development and  capacity building.

    In March 2015, a new Line of Credit of 500 million dollars for civilian infrastructure projects was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Mauritius.
