Kolkata:  With an aim to make people aware on the need for safe blood, blood products and blood transfusion, city-based Medica Superspecialty Hospital organised a Blood Donation Campaign on June 14, from 10am till 6pm on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day.

The employees of Medica joined hands voluntarily to take a step towards this year’s theme, ‘Safe blood for all’, raising awareness about the universal need for safe blood.

“We do organise such blood donation campaigns around the year. We are indeed thankful to our patrons and stakeholders, who come forward in the times of requirement and donate blood proactively in best interests of the society. No doubt, there is a want of compassion from people around to replenish the required quota of blood throughout the year. It is the duty as a citizen to come forward and donate blood whenever possible,” said Dr. Alok Roy, Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals.

The need for blood donation campaigns should be a part of general discourse to create mass awareness. After all, donating blood is a great boon to humanity at large. Making people aware of safe blood, safe blood transfusion is also our main focus which we believe can definitely motivate the society at large, added Dr Roy.
