    Published on January 6, 2019

In Meghalaya, the operations to rescue 15 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine in East Jaintia Hills district have entered the 25th day. The Kirloskar and Coal India’s pumps which were functional yesterday, had to stop pumping owing to technical problems.

However operation spokesperson R Susngi said, the Odisha fire Services are engaged in dewatering the nearby abandoned mines today, which might help in lowering of water in the main shaft.

The official said, rescue divers from the Indian Navy and the NDRF are yet to make any significant impact in their search and rescue operations as the water level is still beyond 100 feet, the safe diving capacity for the divers.
