  • Meira Kumar suspends 12 MPs from Andhra over disruption of house proceedings

    Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar suspended 12 MPs from Andhra Pradesh for five days over disruption of House Supreme courtproceedings following protests over creation of Telangana and Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day.

    Speaker took the decision after consulting all party leaders earlier in the day.

    Though the meeting remained in-conclusive, the Speaker invoked rule 374A where in she has a discretion in such matters without any vote.

    Government first withdrew the motion that was moved yesterday seeking the suspension as final vote could not be completed.

    Then she decided to suspend the MP’s , who disrupted the proceedings opposing the creation of Telangana.

    The issue of Telangana today rocked the proceedings in Lok Sabha.

    No business could be transacted. As soon as the proceedings began MPs from Andhra came to the well and created a din. The question hour was washed out.

    Later in the Zero Hour the proceedings was adjourned for the day after repeated adjournments.
