    Mercedes-Benz India wins Prestigious ‘Auto Awards” across categories in 2011

    Pune – Mercedes-Benz India emerged as one of the most successful brands amongst the luxury car manufacturers of the country by winning as many as eight prestigious awards from reputed automotive magazines and television channels for 2010. The company’s products comprising the SLS AMG, the GL-Class, the E-Coupe and the E-Class, won an award in each category reiterating Mercedes-Benz India’s vast and superior product portfolio and their appreciation from auto aficionados. Mercedes-Benz’s superior brand image and products impressed jury members and customers alike, as it also was presented with Auto India’s prestigious ‘Best Brand Award’ which is based on the responses of its readers.

    The highlight of these awards was that the company has won accolades across different product categories highlighting strong customer faith. The awards won this year include:  ‘Import Car of the year – SLS AMG’ by CNBC Overdrive Awards and Car & Bike India Awards, Performance Car of the Year – SLS AMG by BS Motoring, CBU Sports car of the year – SLS AMG by ET Zigwheels, Favourite Chauffer driven car – E-Class by AutoBild, SUV of the year- GL 350 by TopGear and the Best Brand Award by Auto India Best Brand Awards 2011.

    Expressing delight on receiving the awards, Mr. Peter T Honegg, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “I am very pleased that Mercedes-Benz has won all the prestigious awards both for its brand image and product offerings for different categories for which it was nominated. The appreciation that our products and the brand has received from the media fraternity and customers, reiterates our motto of offering ‘The Best or Nothing’ for our customers, which has been our guiding principle for 125 Years now. These awards also reinforce our belief in offering the best products and services for the Indian customers who deserves the best.”

    The legendary classic, SLS AMG with its stunning lines and trademark gullwing doors emerged as a unanimous favorite, winning the four top awards. The SLS AMG also bagged global accolades by winning the ‘Best New Design Award for 2011’, presented by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). The award was conferred upon as part of the 2011 Canadian Car of the Year (CCOTY) awards that opened the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

    All these awards mark the beginning of yet another significant year for the company. 2011 also marks the 125th birth anniversary of automobile and  innovation by Mercedes-Benz. Continuing its remarkable growth story into the second month of the year, the company reported its best ever February sale of 662 units, reflecting a growth of 51% over February 2010.
