Minister inaugurates 5th Edition of Falcon Festival-2019 at Umrangso

Haflong  :Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, etc Govt. of Assam Shri Pijush Hazarika inaugurated the 5th Edition of Falcon Festival-2019 at Umrangso in presence of huge gatherings on Friday.

The inaugural function was attended by Minister Pijush Hazarika as chief guest and Chief Executive Member N C hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa as the chief host along with Chairperson Ranu Langthasa, Executive Member Biswajeet Daolagupu, Samuel Changsan, Nandita Gorlosa, L. Darnei, Golonjo Thaosen, MLA, B B Hagjer, MACs Manjit Nading, Nojit Kemprai,  Nabojit Hojai, Principal Secretary (T) Amitabh Rajkhowa, Principal Secretary (N) CCF, M. Tungmung and others.

Lighting of holy lamp by Chief Guest including all the guests was done to begin with the well attended meeting.

CEM, Gorlosa said this festival aims to create awareness among the people of Dima Hasao and also of the other places about the “Amur Falcon” a kind of migratory birds that comes to the district once in year during the winter season. It has become a duty to preserve by all of us.

Minister Hazarika talking to media assured all possible help to make Umrangso a world class tourist destination in the country since umrangso has the every potential to be one of the best tourist destinations of the country. Expressing his happiness to be present at the Festival, Hazarika said people should also come forward to make Umrangso the best tourist spot.

EM Samuel Changsan welcoming all the guests and others who have come from various parts of the country to attend the Falcon Festival appealed to enjoy the scenic beauty of Dima Hasao along with rich culture, tradition and ethnic food.

EM Nandita Gorlosa offering her vote of thanks appealed to the people of Umrangso in particular and of Dima Hasao in general to appreciate the Chief Guests and others who have come here to attend the festival in spite of their busy schedule.

Cultural Troupes from all the ethnic communities living in Dima Hasao performed spectacular traditional dances to the tune of the traditional musical instruments.

Earlier, all the guests were felicitated with ‘risha’ and mementoes by the organizers as a token of love and respect.
