    GUWAHATI :Social Justice and Empowerment Minister of The Government of Assam Pijush Hazarika today visited three de-addiction (Rehabilitation ) centres in Nagaon district and took stock of the facilities available to the residents of the Centre.

    The minister first reached the “Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation Centre” run by The Srimanta Shankar Mission and took stock of the overall situation in the centre. From here the minister went straight and reached a de-addiction centre run by The Willing Way Wellness Society. Seeing the lack of facilities for the residents during his visit to the de-addiction centre, the minister directed the owner of the centre to take necessary action within the next 15 days with strict warning.

    The minister later visited a de-addiction centre called Lifeline Rehabilitation Centre and interacted with the residents of the centre. During his visit to the centre, the minister directed the District Collector to take necessary action and help the man after getting rid of the drug for a long time. On the other hand Minister Pijush Hazarika also gave strict instructions to the owner of the center so that the person who has been freed from drug addiction is kept in the de-addiction center for the sole purpose of getting money.

    The minister directed the district collector to keep a close watch on de-addiction centres in this regard. The minister later visited an adjoining old age home and a children’s home under the social welfare department and interacted with the residents.
