  • MMLC 4 & MMRT 3 In Association With The Cherian Foundation Donates Wig To The Cancer Patients

    Chennai: Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle (MMLC) #4 and Madras Mylapore Round Table (MMRT) #3, in association with The Cherian Foundation donated 50 wigs to marginalised cancer patients this year. The event held at the Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar in the presence of Chief Guest Ms. Sneha Prasanna and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Selva Lakshmi, Director, Cancer Institute (WIA) and many more eminent personalities from various walk of life.

    MMLC4 & MMRT3, a group of young women and men under the age of 40 who have been serving the deserving for the past 50 years under the umbrella of Round Table India and Ladies Circle India, primarily building infrastructure like classrooms and toilets for the deserving to achieve their motto of “Freedom Through Education”.

    The “GIFT HAIR GIFT CONFIDENCE” is the signature campaign of The Cherian Foundation aimed at encouraging economically deprived women cancer patients across the country to step forward and avail treatment.

    Vijay Srinivas, Chairman, MMRT3 said, “MMRT3 and MMLC4 have been associated with the Adyar Cancer Institute for the last 2 years and provided a park for the children of the Mahesh Memorial Paediatric Ward, donated wigs to cancer patients, built a temple and also donated specialised medical equipment, worth 1,05,16,000.”

    Chairperson, MMLC4, Dr. Vani Vijay said, “This is a very emotional project as cancer patients go through physical and emotional changes which would drastically affect their self-image. Through this initiative, we build confidence and a stronger mind to the women who undergo chemotherapy with severe loss of hair as side effects.”

    She added, “We are proud to collaborate with MMRT3 to develop such an important initiative which not only reduce the depression rate of patients drastically but also suicide rates. This is the second year of our association with The Cherian Foundation and donated around 50 wigs free of cost to the underserved cancer patients.”

    Sara B Cherian, Trustee of The Cherian Foundation said “This is the 4th hair- cum- donation drive of The Cherian Foundation. So far, we have donated 423 wigs through various partnerships. After 4 successful years Gift hair Gift Confidence campaign went Pan India on 8th August, 2018. Our target for the year 2018-2019 is to donate 50 wigs to Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai in partnership with MMLC4 &MMRT3, and subsequently 50 wigs to Kidwai Hospital, Bangalore”.
