Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar today said that Narendra Modi government has taken landmark and historic decisions in its first 100 days of its second term, be it Jammu and Kashmir or economic decision.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, he said, the reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as Union Territories was a landmark decision. Mr Javadekar said, international organisations, G-7, UNSC, and world leaders stood by India’s decision on abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution.

The Minister said, the preparation for the implementation of these decisions was done before elections as they all are in the national interest. He said, the decisions are aimed at empowering the farmers, poor, labourers, Schedule castes and Schedule tribes. The Minister said, several corrupt officials were weeded out as a boost to transparency. He said, there is no place for corruption in the country.

Mr Javadekar exuded firm belief that India will become a 5 trillion dollar economy by 2025. He said, merger of Public Sector Banks, provision of additional credit expansion through them and finalization of infrastructure projects worth over 100 lakh crore rupees are some of the key decisions towards the realisation of the 5 trillion dollar economy.

The Minister said, the schemes like Housing for all, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, doubling farmer’s income, Ujjwala Yojana and banning of instant triple talaq are some of the key steps taken by the government. He said, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has been extended to all the 6.37 crore farmers.

On the occasion, Mr Javadekar also released a booklet on Completion of 100 Days of the Government.
