  • Modi Govt to fulfil people’s dream to see pollution free Mula & Mutha rivers: Prakash Javadekar

    Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Environment, Forest & Climate Change Mr. Prakash Javadekar has said that people from Pune are eager to see pollution free Mula and Mutha rivers and Modi Government has decided to fulfil their dream.

    He was speaking with reporters after the review meeting of pollution Abatement of Mula – Mutha River in Pune on Sunday.

    He assured that Union Government will repay loan expected from foreign agency for this purpose.

    The Mula and Mutha rivers are the integral part of the history and culture of Pune city.

    Both the rivers are now identified by the Central Pollution Control Board among 300-plus polluted rivers in the country.

    The Environment Minister on Sunday said that project for the Pollution Abatement of Rivers Mula-Mutha will now be on fast track.

    He said, the first sewerage treatment plant under this project is near completion and four more plants will get essential sanctions very soon.

    Mr. Javadekar said, this is a joint project of Central Government and Pune Municipal Corporation and Government has signed a loan agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) in the year 2015.

    The total cost of the project is Rs. 990 crore.
