  • Monsoon hits Kerala coast after a week’s delay

    After a delay of a week, monsoon hits the Kerala coast today marking the official commencement of the four-month rainfall season in the country.

    Indian Meteorological Department confirmed the arrival of South west monsoon in Kerala, Lakshadweep parts of Tamil Nadu and Mali islands.

    AIR correspondent reports that as monsoon arrives, several parts of Kerala have started receiving a good amount of rainfall.

    Met department predicts heavy rainfall in the coming days. Orange has been declared in Ernakulam, Malappuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts.

    Controls rooms will be opened in these areas. Further the Met dept withdrew the red which was declared earlier in the state.

    Meanwhile, the annual monsoon trawling ban in Kerala will begin from tomorrow midnight and will be in force for 52 days.
