  • Monsoon hits North East: Mizoram, Manipur reeling under flood

    Guwahati : Heavy monsoon rain has triggered flood in Mizoram and Manipur. As per reports, over 1000 people have been evacuated to safer places in the two districts due to the flood. Two districts in Mizoram – Lucnglei and Aizawl – have been severely affected by the rising flood water. Torrential rainfall has caused landslides and flash floods in several parts of the two states. School holidays have been declared in both the states due to the heavy downpour. Rescue operations are going on in full swing in both the states. A mudslide has obstructed the access to the Lengpui Airport in Manipur, as per reports. The floods have washed away several hectares of agriculture lands, crops, roads, pavements. Due to the power failure in many parts, communication snapped in both the states. Many roads in Aizawl remained inaccessible due to landslides and mudslides.
