In Assam, more than 9 thousand kilometer roads have been constructed so far under the Centre’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, PMGSY.Official sources said that state Public Works Department is implementing the scheme in 23 districts.
The department has set the target to construct above 13 thousand kilometers rural roads .A total of 6 thousand 435 habitations have been benefited from 2 thousand 914 road works in the state.
In the current financial year, 21 roads will be constructed in habitation with a population of 999 to 500. The Centre has released more than 61 thousand crore rupees to the state since 2000 under it.
