MPL removed from Google play store

New Delhi : Popular e-Sports platform Mobile Premier League (MPL) is currently not available on Google Play Store. The application, however, is available on Apple’s App Store. Users can also download the game directly (app version) from the company’s official website.  MPL said the company was working with Google’s team to restore the app on Play Store.

“The app has been removed as a result of technical issues specific to Google’s developer policies. Our development team is working with relevant teams at Google to resolve these issues,” said the company in a statement.

It is worth noting that a lot of e-sports platforms including notable names like Dream11 are not available via Google’s Play Store. Bengaluru-based MPL allows users to play games and real cash.

MPL, which is owned by Galactus Funware Technology Pvt. Ltd., was Launched in September last year, MPL provides a platform for mobile gamers, focused on gaming genres like arcade, skill-based/puzzle, adventure games, sports and others. It also hosts multiplayer tournaments on its platform along with cash prizes. MPL claims to have over 25 million registered users across Andorid and iOS. A large part of MPL’s user base in India comes from non-metro cities.

MPL recently announced that it had raised Series A funding of $35.5 million led by Sequoia India, Times Internet, and GoVentures. As per the company statement, the current funding will be used to drive product marketing and user growth efforts in India.
