  • Mrs. India International 2011 Richa Sharma visits Suryakiran School in the Heritage School Campus.

    Kolkata: Every child has the right to education. The Heritage School Campus organized a charitable event for the underprivileged children of ” Suryakiran School “. Suryakiran School is a noble project born on the auspicious occasion of World Literacy Day on 8th September, 2006 which caters to the education needs of underprivileged children.The winner of Mrs. India International2011, Richa Sharma, a primary school teacher and mother of a nine year old daughter, extended her ray of hope to these underprivileged children. She had been brought up in the city of Kanpur, and had been staying in Kolkata after her marriage to Manish Sharma a city based industrialist. Mrs. Richa Sharma always had been keen on reaching out to the rural, needy and poor, with the winning of this pageant, it created a platform for her, and ample space to give out with open arms. Mrs. Richa Sharma had been connected to Suryakiran School past many years, especially in the stream of education, since her profession being a teacher.

    As Mrs. Richa Sharma entered the school campus, the children got amusingly excited to see the Mrs. India International, and with that sparkling crown on her head, their innocent faces instantly lit up and eyes started twinkling like stars. She distributed schoolbags, school uniforms, books and stationary to the children of Suryakiran School in presence of Mrs. Seema Sapru, the Principal Heritage School, Mrs. Meenakshi Atal, the Vice Principal Heritage School, and Commander S. Dey, the Campus Administrator.

    “A pageant is a platform wherein every individual gets an opportunity to showcase her personality, to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and to learn to appreciate different viewpoints. All this enriches the contestant’s personality and prepares her to tackle the challenges of life better”, says Mrs. Richa Sharma. Her views very well makes it clear her humble attitude towards the walks of life. She also said, “I now have a great platform to do my bit for the society, and I want to work for underprivileged children.”

    Mrs. Richa Sharma added , “It was a life-changing experience for me, and I thank my husband Manish Sharma, my daughter Aashna and my mother-in-law Bhagwati Sharma for encouraging me take part in the contest, and I’m highly obliged to my friend Shivalika Sharma, who is a former Gladrags Mrs. India winner, who urged me to give it a shot.” She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude for Mrs. Adrita Khanna, the director of the pageant, who had been crowned as Mrs. India International in the year 2008, who was encouraging and warm to all the contestants.

    Mrs. Richa Sharma of Kolkata, India was crowned the Mrs. India International 2011 in the pageant finals on 28th May 2011 at the prestigious 14th Street Playhouse of Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, USA in a well contested finale. Mrs. Richa Sharma seemed elated to be India’s Ambassador and felt honoured to represent India at the Mrs. International Pageant. She will now represent India in National Pageant in Chicago in July 2011. She also looks forward in pursuing her career in front of the camera, which is a moral to the younger generation and sets an example in the society. Alongside she would also love to go back to her teaching profession.
