  • Ms. Taniguchi, Deputy Consul General of Japan inaugurates at Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute in Secunderabad

    Hyderabad: Ms. Taniguchi, Deputy Consul General of Japan inaugurates “the project for the installation of Medical equipment for Treatment of Eye Diseases in Rural Underserved Areas of Telangana here in the city today at Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute, West Marredpally.

    Disclosing this in a press note issued in the city today, R. Govind Hari Chairman, Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute said that the project was implemented by Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute in The year 2017

    Addresing the gathering at Ms. Taniguchi said that it was her pleasure to inaugurate “the project for the installation of Medical equipment for Treatment of Eye Diseases in Rural Underserved Areas of Telangna. First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to, Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute for their sincere efforts and responsibility in completing the project on time while taking care of patients in the community

    Under the Japanese Government Assistance Scheme called GGP, the medical equipment has been successfully installed in Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute and are ready for full utilization by the staff at the Hospital. In addition, a large size automobile will assist transportation of patients and medical team for eye screening camps in remote villages, she said

    Speaking further she added that in India, many people suffer social isolation due to avoidable blindness and visual impairment .

    According to the statistics, about 63 million individuals experience visual impairment and 8 million among them are blind.

    Nearly one quarter of the worlds blind live in India. The problem is compounded by the lack of quality eye care.

    In Order to fulfill the demands of the community, the institute has been established in 2007 and since then, successfully making specialty eye care available at affordable price and accessible for those in the remotest areas.

    The institute has been conducting eye screening camps in the rural Telangana and performing operations free of cost to the patients who cannot afford it informed R.Govind Hari.

    The Government of Japan is proud to be able to work with, Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute, which is one of the finest eye hospitals in Telangana and relentlessly delivers quality eye care to the society. It is our sincere hope that the project will contribute to enhancing the quality and

    quantity of services to the people in and outside the community said Taniguchi.

    Japan’s Grant Assistance Scheme for Grassroots Projects supports projects designed for well-being of grassroots communities.

    I am pleased to inform you that this year marks the 30th anniversary since the inception of this Grant Assistance Scheme.

    The scheme, however, cannot be such successful without dedicated people for the service in those communities like the people in front of me said Taniguchi.
