    Mumbai: Voters from Borivali West’s Sodawala School voting center, who went to vote in the Muncipal corporation election, complained of harassment and said that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) bore the Congress Party’s Flag (Jhanda) stickers, which was causing the confusion among voters.

    The election Commission had appealed the voters to come out in large numbers and vote, but, when people went for exercising their franchise, they were allegedly harassed by the Election officials.As per Manmohan Gupta, who is known for his social service, alleged that the zonal officer Shrawan Kumar from the Sodawala School voting center has been accused of behaving badly with the voters. Manmohan Gupta is a chairman of “Gandhi Vichar Manch,” and an ardent supporter of Congress party. He also alleged that the Congress Flag (Jhanda) stickers on the EVM’s had made people change their minds and vote for congress.

    Manmohan Gupta had gone to the Sodawala School booth and was carrying a driving license and Pan card. In spite of having his name in voters list, after 15 min discussion Manmohan Gupta has given his vote.

    Manmohan Gupta said “Election commission is trying to bring the voters out of their house and make them vote. But, the election officials are harassing and denying them their rights. Election commission should train their staff properly and teach them how to talk to people. If learned people like me are being treated badly, imagine what they do to the illustrate people? Why should people go and vote? And the voting machines bore the logo of congress Flag (Jhanda). This is wrong. This cannot be called a clean election. Why do the election officials behave in such a manner? Why Election Commission doesn’t look into these aspects? This incident should be investigated.”
