  • Mumbai’s Victorian Gothic and Art Deco buildings declared World Heritage

    In a remarkable achievement, Victorian Gothic and Art Deco buildings of Mumbai was today declared as a World Heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO.

    The decision was taken at the 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO in Bahrain today. This makes Mumbai city the second city in India after Ahmedabad to be included on the World Heritage List. Our correspondent has the details:-

    Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the citizens of Mumbai on the inclusion of these buildings in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    In a tweet, Mr Modi said this is a great recognition of Mumbai’s history and heritage.
