Kochi : Muthoot Capital Services Ltd (MCSL), one of India’s fastest growing NBFCs and the listed entity of Muthoot Pappachan Group (also known as Muthoot Blue), today announced the appointment of Dr. Kandathil Mathew (K M) Abraham as a Non-Executive Independent  Director on the Board of the Company effective from 18^th January, 2019.

Dr. K M Abraham has had an illustrious journey, spanning almost four decades, as one of the most dynamic and upright IAS officers in the Kerala cadre. He has held prominent positions in the Kerala Government, starting as a District Magistrate and in parallel, assuming the office of the Mayor. Over the years, he rapidly moved up the ranks, and has held prestigious positions of the Secretary (Finance), to Principal Secretary (Social Justice / Higher Education) and eventually to the highest position in the State Govt. as the Chief Secretary to the Government of Kerala. Highly regarded as an effective administrator and leader, Mr. Abraham is an expert in the domain of Finance. Along the way, given his commitment to the field of Research and Higher Education, he was also the Vice Chancellor at four different universities in Kerala. Mr. Abraham was also the wholetime member of the Securities Exchange Board of India.

Presently, he is associated with various statutory bodies and initiatives in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer, Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), a concept founded by him and simultaneously as Chairman, Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (KDISC). While one is a primary driver for infrastructure development in the state the other is a catalyst to develop the start up sector of Kerala. He has had a keen involvement in academics and has been a board member of IIMs and IITs across the country. Dr. Abraham has done his Bachelors in Civil Engineering, followed by M Tech from IIT, Kanpur and a PhD from University of Michigan, USA; Dr. Abraham is also a certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

He is widely recognised & awarded for his work and is the recipient of 2016 Satyendra K. Dubey Memorial Award, instituted by IIT Kanpur for its alumnus who display the highest level of professional integrity in upholding human values. Leading journal, India Today recognised Dr. Abraham as one of the top 10 best bureaucrats in the State of Kerala.  He is also widely known & appreciated for his key role in establishing the pre-eminent authority of SEBI.
