MV-Bhupen Hazarika ferry (vassal) reaches Neematighat

Jorhat : MV-BVhiupen Hazarika a big size  ferry (vassal) which was build at the cost of Rs 10 crore by the Inland Waterways Authority of India has arrived Neematighat this afternoon which had shocked the passengers and VVIPs at Neematighat after witnessing a huge size ferry which will be able to carry over 500 b passengers along with 10 trucks each weighing 25 tonnes along with other 25 small vehicles. The length of the ferry built of steel is 46.50 metres and breath is of 13.30 metres which is having two additional engines alomg with one main engine, said Inland Waterway official sources here today.

 

The chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal will flag off the fiorst ever Ro-Ro ( Roll on/roll off) ferry service at Kamalabari Ghat which will leave for Neematighat on October 11th i.e. on Thursday evening next. The Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Narayan Konwar, SP Vaibhav Nimbalkar, ADCs Jayanta Goswami, Tapan Gohain were among the representative from the district administration to see and have a glimpse of the 10 crore worth ferry that will ply for the first time within the heart of the mighty Brahmaputra, said sources.
