    Published on September 27, 2018

StarPlus and godfather of dance Remo D’souza have come together for the fourth season of Dance + searching for the most stylish and unique dancing talent. Remo, one of the most accomplished choreographer and filmmaker in Bollywood, is an inspiration for everyone to follow their passion with utmost dedication and hard work!

Super judge of Dance+ 4 Remo Dsouza gets candid about what viewers have in store this season, the unique talent and his ‘Plus’ who supported him in fulfilling his dreams and some unknown facts about him…

    1. Tell us about the new season of Dance+

The season of Dance is back on StarPlus but this time with a much stronger ‘Plus’. The campaign this year is built on the thought-Sapne Sirf Apne Nahin Hote- underlining that the journey to greatness is a long and a tough one. However, it is never alone! This season is a homage to all those people who are the unsung heroes in the journey to success of an individual – who worked as the support system to the individual. All these people contribute, in their own way, to the success. Hence, the journey to success is never alone, especially in our country. In Dance+ 4, we will communicate this thought through the language of dance – viewers will not only get to see some spectacular performances from champion dancers, but will also get a chance to witness their journey and the heroes’ instrumental in creating these champions.

    1. 2. What was your reaction when you were informed about the first promo of season 4 being inspired from your life?

The thought for this season is beautiful. I was extremely surprised and overwhelmed when the creative team discussed the idea. I am very happy the way the promo has turned out – my mother has been instrumental in me reaching where I have. I loved that the film captured our bonding with a lot of sensitivity.

    1. Given that 3 seasons were a massive hit, what’s in store for the audiences this season?

Every season Dance + is an exhibition of pure, unadulterated, and most importantly, unique dancing talents from all over the country. In season 4, we raise the bar over the previous seasons – the expectations from the talent will be higher, and hence, challenges will be tougher; the contestants have to be better than the quality on show in the previous seasons. Rest assured, they will be thoroughly tested! The viewers are in for a visual treat!

    1. Given the show’s message is#SapneSirfApneNahiHotethis season, tell us something about your battles?

The journey to success is a long and a tough one with innumerable odds at every step. I have had my share of battles and it was not easy to achieve what I have been able to over the years. But I am glad I had my Plus to support me through my dancing career and helped me. Similarly Dance + 4 captures the story of the triumph of human spirit against odds. This year too, the contestants will have to truly challenge themselves with their ‘Plus’ factor, to be able to meet the raised bar of Dance+ Season 4.

    1. Who has been the plus in your struggle?

My Plus is my mother, who was instrumental in helping me fulfil my dreams from being a dancer and choreographer – from recognising my talent and interest in dancing, providing unrelenting support to furthering my passion, standing up for me in front of my conservative and disciplinarian father to, eventually, being the wind beneath my wings as I took the leap of faith and headed to Mumbai. I am glad that Dance+ 4 will bring forth not just the phenomenal talent, but also the anchors behind them who have been their pillar of strength. This platform will give me as an individual too a chance to show gratitude to My Plus, My Mother!

    1. Is there a fourth mentor brought on board for this season?

Dharmesh, Punit and Shakti have been brilliant as team captains and mentors for the past seasons. They will play the role of team captains this season as well. This season will not just be an extravaganza of dance but one packed with delightful interludes of comedy, courtesy the hilarious duo of Raghav Juyal and Sugandha Mishra.

    1. How much do you believe in the core message from Dance+ 4

I truly believe in this. I think it were impossible for me to achieve what I am today with the unflinching support of my unsung hero-my mother. I would’ve given up long time back if I didn’t have my mother’s love and support. Her support inspired me throughout and helped me overcome obstacles. Each time I was about to give up, she motivated me to work hard and not give up.

    1. What is it that you will look for in the contestants while judging them?

Well expectations will be higher than the past seasons. They will be thoroughly tested and the ones rising up to the challenge will move ahead in the competition. Bar will be raised!

9.Tell us something about the audition phase?

I’m amazed by the talent we’ve got on board, each one representing their unique dance styles which weren’t known to common people. We could see the efforts put in by the contestants in their performances for the auditions and their willingness to showcase their style. From a solo performer, a group & duet syncing their moves, each contestant had set the auditions on fire and it made really difficult for us to select them. We have handpicked ‘unique’ dancing talent across the country which broadens the horizon of dancing. The talent this season too offers viewers freshness from the stereotypical dance acts thereby promising phenomenal acts and performances which will be a first on television.

    1. To what extent do you think it is true, that you get quick fame and a break for your future because of reality shows??

Reality shows can be a stepping stone to success as it provides a great platform to showcase your talent in front of a massive audience. Talent never gets wasted if its coupled with hard work and perseverance. People like me often look for talent and then cast them in movies or give them opportunities. But you need to be talented and showcase it on the right platform.

    1. How do you cope with the pressure??
I believe in to be extremely calm and composed under any situation. If you work under immense pressure you might go wrong with your decisions. So in my opinion one should sit back relax and think, this is exactly what I do when stuck in a stressful situation. Take some time off, give it a while and then everything will be fine.
    2. Are your children interested in dancing?
They dance, but not like me. My children share distinct interests. One wishes to write a book of his own and become an author whereas my other son is a football fanatic and he plays centre forward position. They will have my whole hearted support in whatever they aspire to do in life.
    3. Why did you choose Varun Dhawan and Katrina Kaif for your upcoming movie?
It is a dance based movie and Varun has already proved himself as a commendable dancer, he was the apt choice for the role. Katrina Kaif is a great dancer too and I am really excited for this. I wanted really strong dancers and hence these actors are on board.
      14. Will this campaign thought ‘Sapne Sirf Apne Nahi Hote’ be relevant all throughout the show? How?
Yes. This entire season we will celebrate the ‘Plus’ of our lives and pay tribute to them. We will call the ‘Plus’ of our contestants and share their journey with everyone.
    4. Initially, how did your parents and relatives respond to you being a part of this industry?
Initially they didn’t appreciate it my career choice. They didn’t like the way I dressed and the work I did. They found me very indisciplined. But once they saw my talent on big screen they showered me with their blessing and love.
    5. How does dancing help you in your personal life?

Dance is the core of my life. It helps me stay focused and calm. Dancing makes me forget all my worries and it also keeps me fit.

    1. 17. When is the show going on-air?

Show is going on air from 6th October every Sat-Sunday at 8pm
