Following meetings of the working group on food security, the members of the NAC are understood to be nearing consensus on the issue of nutritional security with suggestions on inclusion of cereals like Jawar, Bajra and ragi for distribution through Public distribution system.
Members are likely to recommend making available cereals at lower rates than the two grains under the bill, which seeks to provide foodgrains at cereals rates to the poor.
