Bengaluru: Namma Bengaluru Foundation, the lead petitioner in the landmark verdict by National Green tribunal (NGT) against various illegalities in the execution of a large mixed-used project in the ecologically sensitive area between Agara and Bellandur Lake has requested the Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah to instruct Advocate General of Karnataka to represent the State at Supreme Court for the ongoing PIL.

The judgment directed the authorities to extend the Buffer Zone around water bodies and raja kaluves. The NGT also directed that issuance of environmental clearances for all future constructions in the city have to mandatorily fulfill the conditions enumerated in the order.

In a bid to ensure the city does not lose this battle against erring encroachers and developers, Namma Bengaluru Foundation urged the Honorable Chief Minister Of Karnataka to take cognizance of ongoing Agara-Bellandur PIL in the interests of the citizens of Bengaluru.

Speaking at the occasion, Sridhar Pabbisetty, CEO, Namma Bengaluru Foundation said, “We believe that the directions and judgement given by the National Green Tribunal is a landmark one and definitely a Pro citizen act. But to ensure transparency, accountability and even implementation of the judgement a ground inspection to identify the defaulters must begin. Government is a key custodian of these public assets and hence it is imperative for the Government to take responsibility in matters that involve the larger interests of the city and its citizens.”
