  • Bangalore: The first national conference on Advances in Metrology organized jointly by Metrology Society of India (Southern Region) and Central Manufacturing Technology Institute has commenced today. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. R. C. Budhani, Director of NPL and he addressed the audience on “Quantum Metrology & Its Implementation in India”.

    The inaugural function was presided over by Mr. B.R.Satyan, Director of CMTI. Other eminent persons present at the event were Dr.Girdhar J,Gyani,  Secretary General – QCI, Prof.S.Mohan, Chairman – Centre of Excellence for Nano Electronics and Dr.Anil Relia, Director -NABL.

    The 3-day conference offers a unique opportunity to learn and share about advances, technology and products in the area of Metrology and will cover topics relevant to  Recent advances & Future Trends in Metrology, Role of Metrology in Quality Control, Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance, Measurement System Analysis, Dimensional Metrology, Surface Metrology, Chemical Metrology & Certified Reference Materials, Flow Measurements, Electro Technical Measurement, Radiological Metrology, Uncertainty of Measurements and Nano Metrology, etc.

    Out of the reasonably good responses for paper presentations, 66 papers have been recommended for presentation. This also includes six papers from international experts. Some of the best papers will also be published in MAPAL journal of Metrology Society of India. In addition, the product/poster presentations would also be showcased.  The participants can witness some of the best metrology product exhibits at the venue and also get a unique opportunity to visit the Nano Metrology laboratories which are having state-of-the-art equipments housed in a controlled environment maintained to international levels.

    As per MSI, 300 scientists and engineers from industries, academic institutions and R&D establishments will be participating in the conference.

    Admet 2011 has been sponsored by governmental organizations like NPL, CSIR, DST, NABL, ETDC, STQC, QCI,  DRDO and ISRO and private organizations like Taylor Hobson-Ametek, Fluke Calibration, Icon Analytical,  Mitutoyo,  Sartorious, Carl Zeiss India, DH-Budenberg, Sushma Industries and Zygo, etc.
