  • National Press Day observed in Assam’s Mangaldai, cancer survivor ailing senior journalists greeted.

    Mangaldai  :The Darrang district administration in association with the District Information and Public Relation office observed the National Press Day here at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in presence of the local leading citizens , media persons and officials and staff of the district administration and the district public relation department .

    In this connection  an oration was held where Bhupendra Nath Bhattacharya, a Guwahati based senior journalist and the editor of “Raijor Batori” as the appointed orator delivered his speech on this year’s theme “ Reporting , interpretation – a journey.” In his around forty five minutes deliberations he dwelt at length  the changing trends in the journalism  over the last several decades  and the challenges  the professional journalists  have to accept during this changing situations . ” The trend of reporting  have now changed from factual to interpretative reporting . In this new era of interpretative reporting the responsibilities of the journalists have been doubled.” He further stated that  journalism is a living thing and the readers , audience and public are its soul . He has observed that the future career of a journalist or a media agency depends only upon its credibility among the public . “ We must  earn the skill to cope up with  the new emerging trends  and at the same time we must not forget  our credibility through responsible journalism  as because neither the circulation nor the TRP but the credibility will decide the future of a journalist and a media organization .” Bhattacharya  included.

    Mangaldai Legislator Gurujyoti  Das , senior journalist Prashanta Barua , Mayukh Goswami , Ranjit Kr Nath , Principal Kharupetia College Dr Budhin Ch Hazarika , senior citizen Rameswar Sarma took part in the discussion session moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kalpana Deka  following the oration . The day long celebration where the objectives has been explained Manimala Gogoi , District Information and Public Relation Officer (DIPRO), Darrang earlier began with the welcome address by Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Dass . The celebration also witnessed  greetings being offered to cancer survivor and ailing senior journalists Mangal Singh Jhanjhari and Prashanta Barua by the organizers  each with a phulam gamosa.
