Mumbai: The day two of Indian Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) held a conference on “Leveraging Innovations: Enhancing Productivity” powered by National Research Development Corporation (NRDC).
Mr Aman Chadha, Chairman, Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India commented that “NRDC is a nodal agency for public sector in India. They assist in obtaining certification and investment appraisals. Realizing that innovation is an engine for 2020 prosperity, it is recognized as a roadmap by the President of India. He even thanked NRDC for organizing their awards during IESS show
Mr K Jaykumar, IAS, Joint Secretary, (DSIR), Govt. of India, said, “The efforts by department of scientific & industrial research initiative is to encourage researchers, recognizing, motivating and focusing on their problems. We need a game-changing innovation which will drive and energise our nation. It could be a sheer hardcore pursuit for scientific research which will be a roadmap for innovation.
The speaker list also included Prof. DV Singh, Chairman, NRDC Prize Award and Mr DCJoshi, Chief Business Processes Division (BPD), NRDC, New Delhi.
The conference ended with NRDC awards for Dr. Suresh Walia, Dr. B.S. Parmar, Dr.Jitendra Kumar and Dr. Vandana Sharma of Indian Agricultural Research Institute(IARI), New Delhi and Associates have been jointly awarded 5 lakh for their invention entitled “Development of a new process for production of Reduced Azadirachtin based Neem Biopestcides” under the category Innovation Award of the Year – 2010
Dr.Elgar Desa, Shri R. Madhan, Shri G. Navelkar, Shri Nitin Dabholkar and Shri Shivanand P of National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa and Associates have been jointly awarded 5 lakh for their invention entitled “Autonomous Vertical Profiler” under the category Innovation Award of the Year – 2010
In the category of societal innovation award of the year -2010, Dr. P. Kamalasanan Pillai of Vivekananda Kendra, NARDEP, Kanyakumari has been awarded 3 lakh for their invention entitled “Backyard Azolla Cultivation asBroad Spectrum Bio-Feed, Feed-Pellet and Neutraceuticals for livestock”. ShriI.N.P. Gupta, Shri P. Chintaiah, Dr. A. K. Bhattacharya, Shri Partha Banerjee, Mr. T. S. Reddy, of RDCIS, SAIL, Ranchi and Associates have been jointly awarded 3 lakh for their invention entitled “Curtain Flame Ignition Technology for Sinter Machines in Steel Plants”. Dr. U. S. Sarma, Shri. C. R. Komalakumar,Shri. T. A. Rajendra Babu, Shri. A. Radhakrishnan and Shri. V. Ramachandran of Central Coir Research Institute (CCRI), Allepey and Associates have been jointly awarded 3 lakh for their invention entitled “Development of Mobile Fibre Extraction Machine” under the category Societal Innovation Award of the Year – 2010
The third category consists of budding innovators award. Shri Ashish Khatri of Buddha Institute of Management, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur(Rajasthan has been awarded one lakh for his invention entitled “Banana Tree Waste use for Rural People”. Shri Ankit Kumar Soni and Shri Rahul Kumar Soni of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur & Associate has been awarded one lakh for their invention entitled “Mechanical Solar Tracking Device”.
ShriNair Vivek Sahadevan, Shri Venkateswara Rao S, Shri Praveen L R, Shri GuruKrupa N and Shri Deepak Krishna of Sastra University, Thanjavur and Associates have been jointly awarded one lakh for their invention entitled“ Production of Carbon Nano Tubes from Industrial Exhaust”.” under the category Budding Innovators Award of the Year – 2010.

Will any one help an innovator who got ideas of unique design and processing late in life around 75 years ans is now 4 years older, with no spare finances, to carry forward the Patents to the stage of products. An industry friend with scientific bend may be most helpful along with some technically minded faculty person from an Institution. AN APPEAL FROM A SENIOR CITIZEN!!
