Haflong : The N C Hills Indigenous Students Forum through a press communiqué signed by Paoneilum Changsan General Secretary NCHISF informed that trusting the District Administration, the Forums has unanimously agreed and resolved to currently Call off the agitation program
which was scheduled to begin from 17th of February,2020.

The press communiqué stated that with the matter to settle the long pending demand of the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum (NCHISF) & North Cachar Hills Indigenous Women Forum (NCHIWF) for compensating the B G Line Construction affected Beneficiaries by the N F Railway Authority, another Rail Roko’ was scheduled to begin from 17th of February, 2020 unless and until the demand was fulfil.

However, after the Deputy Commissioner received a letter No. W/215/CON/ Land Compensation/LMG-2 Dated 15/02/2020 from the N F Railway, Maligaon, Ghy-11 and in its letter No. NCHG/D-301/2020 Dated 15/02/2020 stating that, the Railway Board considered the demand for Compensation and directed the General Manager (Construction), Maligaon to take decision for payment of Compensation and accordingly the matter is being processed in N F Railway Headquarter Maligaon to issue the compensation. However, as adequate Funds are not available in the current
financial year, the due payment would be made after 31st March, 2020.

Further they warned if the N F Railways failed to fulfil the demand as its assurance given through the District Administration, the Forums would be still bound to execute the same agitation.
