Haflong : The N C Hills Indigenous Students Forum which has been raising the issue of delay and substandard works in construction of NH-54E Jatinga-Silchar road (Package No.As-21) demanded stern action against NHAI Project Director of NH-54E Jatinga-Silchar road Package No Ash-21 for his utter negligence in regards to completion of the portion, informed David Keivom, President, NCHISF.
He said since the beginning of four lane construction, the maintenance work of Jatinga-Silchar roads was given to construction company like JKM, NKC, Simplex, HCC all of them practiced the tradition of engaging subcontractor who have no capacity at all and the subcontractor again engaged small contractors which compromise the rate and quality of the work. It was learn that Ratna Infrastructure once again was trying to give the maintenance work which was awarded to them on 10th January 2020 to M/s Laxmi Motors in subcontract.
It has been 3 year M/s Laxmi Motors was looking after the maintenance work of Jatinga-Silchar road but no improvement could be seen and the road condition remain the same till today. The N.C Hills Indigenous Student Forum would not tolerate any compromise in the quality and delay of works as the public have suffered long enough and NHAI Authority should take all necessary action so that 54cr which was sanctioned for the maintenance work must be implemented as per the norm and to see no fund were misused this time. ISF also warned the NHAI not to allow the old practice in future anymore.
