NEHU Concludes “Refresher Course in Folkloristics & Semiotics”

The Refresher Course in Folkloristics and Semiotics jointly organized by UGC-Human Resource Development Centre and Department of Cultural and Creative Studies, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, concluded on the 6th of April 2019. The course was attended by 41 participants; 17 nos. from Meghalaya, 16 nos from Assam, 4 nos. from Nagaland, 1 each from Sikkim, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Chief Guest Prof. Rakesh Mohan, Director UGC-HRDC, NEHU, Shillong, in his valedictory address, expressed profound happiness at the successful completion of the Refresher Course. He congratulated the Course Coordinator Prof. Desmond L. Kharmawphlang, Head, Department of Creative & Cultural Studies for giving their full support and cooperation in conducting the Refresher Course in Folkloristics and Semiotics for the 5thconsecutive year. Prof. Mohan further, stated that the Refresher Course is very important for a teacher in acquiring and improving basic skills of teaching at the college/university level and keeping them abreast of the latest developments in their specific subjects. He was hopeful that the participants would not only benefit from the course in terms of career advancement but definitely shall carry the knowledge. The course Coordinator Prof. Desmond presented a brief report on the course and expressed satisfaction that the participants attending the Refresher Course displayed great enthusiasm and motivation throughout the course. He urged upon them to utilize the information and training received during the course for furthering their academic interests.
