NIA files supplementary charge sheet against 10 Govt employees for ‘diverting funds’ to NSCN-K

Guwahati : The National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a supplementary charge sheet against 10 Nagaland state government employees – who have been arrested for allegedly diverting public money to the rebel outfit National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Khaplang (NSCN-K). As per reports, the NIA officials submitted the charge sheet at the NIA court in Dimapur. The Nagaland state government employees were arrested last year after a case was registered by the NIA Guwahati office in 2016. The NIA booked the officials under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and under Section 34 and Section 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, as per reports. It may be mentioned that former Nagaland chief minister, T R Zeliang also appeared before the NIA in relation to this matter. As reported, the NSCN-K had prepared a list of 24 government departments. According to the NIA, the arrested 10 government employees collected “tax” on behalf of the rebel outfit. The “tax” was collected on an annual basis.
