Nifty tops 9K for first time, Sensex up 135 pts as stocks rally

The markets closed in green today as the Nifty rose by 40 points to 8996 while the Sensex shut shop up by 135 points at 29594.
About 1625 shares have advanced, 1160 shares declined, and 210 shares are unchanged.
Pharmaceutical, technology, capital goods, HDFC group stocks along with index heavyweight Reliance Industries supported the market. However, FMCG and banks remained under pressure.
