  • No info from any state on non-implementation of new MV Act: Gadkari

    Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari today informed the Lok Sabha that the ministry has not received any information from any State that they are not implementing the provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019. In a written reply to a question posed by CPI MP M. Selvaraj, the minister said that after the implementation of the act, road accidents and fatalities have reduced.

    In a reply to another question, the Minister also informed that after implementation of certain provisions of Motor Vehicles (Amendment)Act, 2019 total amount collected through fines levied through 38,39,406 challans an amount of over 577 Crore rupees so far. He also said that the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 was intended to bring reforms in the area of Road Safety, bring citizen facilitation, transparency and reduce corruption with the help of information technology.
