Filing of nominations for the May 5 Assembly elections in Karnataka ended on Wednesday with more than 2295 candidates filing their papers to test their electoral fortune.
Prominent among those who filed their nominations on the final day included Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar in Dharwad Central and his cabinet colleagues R Ashoka and Govind Karjol for the BJP.
Denied a ticket, former Congress Minister A Krishnappa filed his nomination papers as janata Dal (secular) nominee in Hiriyur in Chitradurga.
On the final day on Wednesday, 586 nominations were filed. Scrutiny would take place on Thursday and the last date for withdrawal is April 20.
In 23 constituencies, more than 16 candidates had filed their nominations.
