India Meteorological Department has forecast that North East Monsoon will hit coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today and will gradually extend to other parts of the region. The met department said the next two months would be crucial for the region as the three-month-long, October to December monsoon is already delayed by a month. Director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre, Chennai, S Balachandran said Northeast monsoon was delayed due to Cyclone Titli and Luban that formed over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea early last month.
