North India continues to reel under intense cold wave conditions

North India continues to reel under fog and intense cold wave conditions. Many parts of the region are experiencing sub zero temperature.

In Uttar Pradesh, Muzaffarnagar continues to be the coldest place in state recording the lowest temperature of 1 degree Celsius while Agra recorded 2.7 degree, 5 degrees below normal. Our correspondent has the details.

The cold wave sweeping Himachal Pradesh has further intensified with lowest temperature recorded in tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti’s administrative centre Keylong at minus 11.1 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab and Haryana, freezing cold conditions have  gripped parts of the state. In Amritsar and Adampur, mercury plunged to identical minimum temperatures of 0.4 degrees Celsius.
In Jammu and Kashmir, Leh town in Ladakh region recorded the lowest temperature at minus 17.1 Celsius.

In southern part of India, Trichy, Thanjavoor and other delta districts of Tamil Nadu experienced heavy fog in the early hours today. Rail, road and air traffic have been affected because of poor visibility.
