Union Minister Jitendra Singh has said that the northeast is the only region in India for which the Centre has formulated a Regional Road Corporation to boost development.

He said, the central government has taken several initiatives for the development of the northeast in last four years. Mr Singh said that the pace of developmental activity in the northeastern region could serve as a cue and motivation for the other states.

The minister convened a meeting of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region in Jammu yesterday. The main focus of the meeting revolved around issues related to the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation and livelihood schemes being implemented by the ministry.
