Mangaldai : A night patrolling team of the Mangaldai Police Station on Wednesday has foiled a well organized attempt of robbery when the police team busted a gang of notorious gang of criminals in a luxury car in the heart of the Mangaldai town . Acting on a secret source a team of night patrolling team at around 3-30 am, spotted a deep blue colour luxury car –Swift Dzire bearing registration no AS13G-7907 parking suspiciously on the bylane in front of Office of the Deputy Inspector of Schools Mangaldai with several passengers inside it . On searching of the car , the police team led by Officer in Charge of the Town Branch of the Mangaldai Police Station recovered several equipments including a ‘Khurki’ , specially designed iron bars , torch light etc .
The gang smelling danger immediately tried to flee from the police dragnet but police team caught hold five of them , but couple of other managed to run away under the cover of darkness . Later during preliminary interrogation they have reportedly confessed before police that they were about to implement their plans of robbery in the township . Meanwhile talking to this reporter, Superintendent of Police , Darrang Amrit Bhuyan said that a serious crime could be averted with the arrest of these notorious criminals . “ This notorious gang is suspected to involved in several cases of crimes including robbery ,looting in commercial establishments , individual house hold etc in recent time and interrogations are on to ascertain the truth .” , Superintendent of Police Bhuyan asserted. Among the arrested five accused two are each from Mangaldai and Dhula Police Station areas while the other is from Dalgaon Police Station area of the district . They have been identified as Akbor Ali (28) of No2 Baghpuri village , Mangaldai , Bipul Dutta (28) of Mowamari , Mangaldai , Hasmat Ali (24) of Balabari, Dhula , Sadek Ali (23) of Ojagaon, Dhula and Abbash Ali (33) of Besimari, Dalgaon .
