  • Bangalore : Novell today announced the general availability of Novell ZENworks 11, the industry’s first ‘single pane of glass’ solution for endpoint management. ZENworks 11 seamlessly integrates four products into one unified platform: ZENworks Configuration Management,  ZENworks Asset Management, ZENworks Patch Management and ZENworks Endpoint Security Management. This integration now gives IT administrators a single solution to manage devices, patch applications, secure endpoints, and track software license compliance – across physical, virtual, and cloud environments – while meeting short-term needs such as Windows 7 migrations.

“With thousands of employees in more than 40 locations, we need a cost-effective way to manage nearly 3,000 endpoints throughout our city – from the fire department to the police department and everything in between,” said Paul Pedron, senior network systems specialist for the City of Fresno, California’s fifth largest city. “Regardless of whether users are working inside or outside our network, we want them to have a consistent, secure and reliable workspace. ZENworks 11 allows us to apply different policies for each department. This way, we give users access to the software they need, while keeping the data and device secure.”

Armed with identity-based management and new location awareness capabilities, ZENworks 11 allows administrators to manage devices based on who’s using them and where those devices are located, thereby delivering higher levels of productivity and security. Other features in ZENworks 11 include the ability to configure Windows* power management settings, perform out-of-band power management tasks using Intel* vPro*, and manage and patch Windows and Linux* devices all from a single console.

“ZENworks 11 builds on Novell’s management heritage by delivering the industry’s first identity-based, ‘single pane of glass’ solution to manage and secure endpoints across physical, virtual, and cloud environments,” said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager for Security, Management and Operating Platforms at Novell. “Whether migrating to Windows 7 or managing remote offices, ZENworks 11 allows organizations to manage users, minimize interruptions and improve service levels. ZENworks 11 is core to our WorkloadIQ strategy and is specifically designed to grow and evolve as the emerging intelligent workload management market evolves.”
